4 DAYS TO GO!!!

EMRG+N+SEE IS VIBRATING AWAKE:

ONLY TWO WEEKS TO GO!

At the moment this of this post it will be 14 days till the front gate opens! Wow. Are you ready? Are you excited? We are! Got more details on great things happening at the event listed below (The Serpent Path, Filastine, and a Sauna!).

A lot of you have been volunteering and most of the positions have been filled —Thank You! What we are looking for now, specifically, is a group of fire tenders —keepers of the flame; a crew of highly responsible humans who can feed and keep an eye out on the burn barrels throughout the night. If you think that’s you, or know of someone who is, email us through the volunteer page.

FRIDAY MIDNIGHT PERFORMANCE:

THE SERPENT PATH!

The Serpent Path will take us all to a special place led by Isis Indriya, Eve LadyApples and the Fanna–Fi–Allah Qawwali party (rigorously trained musicians Tahir Qawwal and Amena Chisty Qawwal, who are infinitely blessed to be the foremost disciples of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, the greatest Qawwali master of Pakistan and only nephew-successor of the great Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and Dildar Hussein, world renowned tabla master from the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Qawwali party).

This bohemian cabaret of sacred fools and everyday mystics invite all who feel called to join them as they lament and celebrate all that has transpired and all that we have learned from this wild time. This will culminate in that atmosphere where birth and death become one ecstatic spark, the annihilation into the infinite, which is what Fanna-Fi-Allah means, and what is accomplished through their music, bringing forth from out of the Sufi shrines, the blessing of this ancient practice of devotion and love through music and dance to all.

HEADLINER PROFILE:

FILASTINE!

First of all —we really are taking it further this year by bringing you this one: Filastine! We can attempt to describe him, or in some ways it —but the video link below will do all the talking for you. Basically, Filastine creates music and live sets that wreck genre, charting a new sonic map by synchronizing mutated hiphop, smashed-up beats, and international obscura. For the last two years Filastine has brought his soundclash to clubs, squats, festivals, and underground spaces across the globe, performing with laptop, midi triggers, loudspeaker, and percussion mounted on a shopping cart, sometimes joined by a guest mc or vocalist. Special? —Yes! Dope? —Absolutely!

WE JUST GOT HOTTER!

This year we have a special treat for your hot dancing muscles —a sauna! But not just any sauna —one that has been magically inserted by the Crafters Collective within the gleaming shell of a classic American Airstream trailer. Get ready to be melted down by soothing heat within “The Oasis” —the wood fired, cedar lined spa on wheels and its ambient chill space. Also, bring your trunks because the sauna will be placed adjacent to a swimming hole —not the one you’re thinking of. This watery retreat was on the “down low” last year. We now have a new relationship with the land owner and the upper swimming hole is ready for you. Be sure to bring a towel!

We are taking submissions for you n your krews crazy ideas for a performance that will be showcased at The Midnight Vari+e+tea show. There is no art gallery this year! Every visual experience you encounter in our sonic temple is aimed to be freshly squeezed right before your very gem like eyes! From artists painting on stage, to live glass blowing, to digital and video projections mixed live, and more. Also on the list are the community mural pieces —large blank found scrap wood canvasses that will be placed throughout the event space, and by the end of the weekend, will have been filled by you —with your vision inspired by your expression of the now!
